Lighting your shed

Lighting and ventilation can be important if you are spending time in your garden shed, because it pays to be able to see what you're doing! So we thought we'd shed some light on the different lighting options you can go for.

Here are some options for our steel garden sheds:

Louvre Window

Need ventilation AND light? Choose a louvre window! Comes complete with an aluminium louvre mechanism and the glass panes to fit. Unlike other shed windows, the Duratuf window kit includes extra framing for the inside to make it rigid and secure. Available on Kiwi models, which are in our Full Timber Frame range. 

Fixed Window

The Duratuf fixed window is the best way to get natural daylight into your garden shed. Place the window closest to where you will be wanting the light. The fixed window comes complete with the glass window pane and extra timber framing. Available on Kiwi models, which are in our Full Timber Frame range.

Clear Roof Panel

A Clear Roof Panel provides uninterrupted UV free daylight which is perfect for a workshop situation. For gable roof sheds, you can choose from single side or double side options depending on your requirements. Note: Clear panels may condensate more than steel roofing. Clear roof panels are available for our Full Timber and Semi Timber frame ranges.

Aluminium Fixed Window

A high quality NZ manufactured aluminum joinery fixed window is perfect to let extra light into your shed. The colour is matched to the roof colour where steel roofing is used, and defaults to lignite (a natural brown colour) when being used with a cedar shingle roof. Aluminium windows are available on our Cedar Shed range only.

Aluminium Opening Window

A high quality NZ manufactured aluminum joinery opening window is perfect to let extra light and ventilation when you need it into your shed. The colour is matched to the roof colour where steel roofing is used, and defaults to lignite (a natural brown colour) when being used with a cedar shingle roof. Aluminium windows are available on our Cedar Shed range only.

Cedar Fixed Window

The traditional cedar style window finishes off the authentic look of your shed. Available as a fixed window only and for the Rustics Range.

Here are some other options that could work in any style of shed:

Solar Shed Light

The perfect complement to your garden shed if you need to go and fossick around in the dark. The solar panel mounts easily on the roof facing the sun and the 10 LED light has a magnetic back to adhere to the steel cladding. Simple to fit as it requires no mains power, and available as an added accessory on all our ranges.

Lastly, you could wire it up!

Get an Electrician around and get your shed connected to your mains power. Duratuf's timber framing gives you a place to run wires and attach electrical fittings like sockets, switches and light bulbs.
